Robert Brewster (Cincinnati, Ohio/Wyoming H.S.) and Nate Davis (Bellaire, Ohio/Bellaire H.S.), two members of the 2008 Ball State University football team, have been invited to the National Football League Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, Ind., Saturday through Tuesday. The 2009 Scouting Combine is the annual job fair for prospective new NFL players. For six days at Lucas Oil Stadium, players are put through a series of drills, tests and interviews with more than 600 NFL personnel including head coaches, general managers and scouts.

Brewster, a senior right tackle for the Cardinals last season, was a 2007 and 2008 All-Mid-American Conference First-Team selection. In his senior season, he was on the Rotary Lombardi and Outland Trophy Watch Lists. He started all 14 games at right tackle for Ball State in 2008 and anchored an offensive line which ranked first in the MAC and fourth in the country for fewest sacks allowed with 1.0 per game. He blocked for an offense which tallied a school record 6,195 yards in total offense and blocked for H-Back MiQuale Lewis, who set a Ball State single-season rushing record with 1,736 yards. Brewster started 46 straight games in his career, including seven outings at right guard as a freshman. Davis was the 2008 MAC Offensive Player of the Year and an All-MAC First Team choice. He was one of 10 finalists for the 2008 Manning Award and was on the Walter Camp and Maxwell Award Watch Lists last season as a junior. A co-recipient of the 2008 Ball State John Magnabosco Award winner as the team's Most Valuable Player, Davis became the first player in school history to throw for 3,000 yards or more in back-to-back seasons. He threw for a school record 3,667 yards as a sophomore in 2007, and then passed for 3,591 yards last season. Davis set the Ball State career records for passing yards (9,233), touchdown passes (74), pass attempts (1,124), pass completions (678), 250-yard passing games (20) and 300-yard passing contests (9). He ranked 13th in the nation in passing efficiency (156.97) last season plus was 19th in the nation in total offense (278.79).
