MICHAEL CARRASCO, CARLOS DOWNEY NAMED TO NATIONAL FOOTBALL FOUNDATION HAMPSHIRE HONOR SOCIETY

The National Football Foundation's criteria for selection include Being a starter or a significant substitute in one's last year of eligibility at an accredited NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision, Football Championship Subdivision, Division II, Division III, or an NAIA college or university ; Achieving a 3.2 cumulative grade point average throughout entire course of undergraduate study; and meeting all NCAA-mandated progress towards degree requirements. Carrasco earned Academic All-Lone Star Conference South Division status following his senior season, while Downey was named to the LSC South Commissioner's Honor roll. Downey, a physical education major with a minor in coaching, started at offensive guard in 10 of the Hounds' 11 games during the 2009 season, paving the way for a season-high 328 yards of total offense in the second week of the season against Southwestern Oklahoma State.
