Four Northeast players - Jimmie Bush, Matt Khanthalangsky, Admir Mujakovic and Tim Tisdale - will continue playing together at Merced College , a junior college in California.

Bush, Khanthalangsky and Mujakovic started on the offensive line for the Vikings. Tisdale, a fullback and linebacker, was the team's second-leading rusher and leading tackler last season.

In the past 20 years, Merced has had more 40 players go on to play at major Division I colleges , including five who played professionally. The biggest name is Reuben Droughns, who was with the New York Giants when they won the Super Bowl in 2008.

Game of the Week lineup: Bright House Networks released its first-half Game of the Week broadcast schedule. The regular slate kicks off Sept. 3 with Dunedin at Largo, two Pinellas County powers that have made the playoffs the past three seasons.

The only other televised game involving a county team in the first half is Clearwater Central Catholic's home game against Berkeley Prep on Sept. 25.

The second half will be released today on The Lineup at 6 p.m.

The other games are: Davenport Ridge Community at Winter Haven (preseason), Aug. 28; Palmetto at Bradenton Southeast, Sept. 4; Plant at Hillsborough, Sept. 11; Tampa Bay Tech at Armwood, Sept. 17; Bradenton Southeast at Bradenton Manatee, Sept. 18; Plant at Armwood, Oct. 2.

Davis to run Gibbs defense:Jared Davis, who has been part of the coaching staff at USF since the Bulls joined the Big East, including the past two seasons as defensive graduate assistant, is leaving to become defensive coordinator at Gibbs.

Davis will work under newly hired coach Donnie Abraham, the former Bucs and Jets safety who was hired three weeks ago. He had coached at Countryside as an assistant for three seasons before coming to USF in 2005.

Murphy impressES Raiders:It hasn't taken former Lakewood and Florida Gator standout Louis Murphy long to make a positive impression with the Oakland Raiders. In fact, the fourth-round draft pick might end up starting.

New Raiders coach Tom Cable recently had this to say about Murphy, who won two national titles with the Gators, to NFL.com: "He's probably the surprise of our (rookie) class. He has all the makings to be a very special football player at this level - mainly because he was impressive on a daily basis. We really think we found one."
