--UConn had two apparent touchdowns taken away on the same drive by holding penalties in the fourth quarter, one of which was charged to Marcus Easley and the other to Anthony Sherman. The coaching staff was upset at both, and the Big East coordinator of officiating called him up after the game and said neither should have been called. The Huskies ultimately wound up settling for the game-tying field goal on the drive instead.
--The UConn coaching staff handed out a host of gameballs, including one that went to the family of the late Jasper Howard. Among those honored -- the entire offensive line, for their efforts in protecting Zach Frazer and opening holes for running backs Jordan Todman and Andre Dixon.
GAME BALL GOES TO: RBs Jordan Todman and Andre Dixon -- It's hard to separate the two running backs, but both were instrumental in leading the Huskies to victory. Todman gained 130 yards on 26 carries and scored on a 43-yard touchdown as well as a 97-yard kickoff return, while Dixon's 20 carries for 114 yards included the four biggest of the game -- the yards that provided the winning touchdown.
KEEP AN EYE ON: LB Scott Lutrus -- Lutrus has been out or limited most of the year by injuries, but was on the field against Notre Dame and made a difference. He finished second on the team with 14 tackles.
QUOTE TO NOTE: "We're just thankful that we were able to finally put together a win. So now we can take a game ball and send it down to ... the Howard family because I know one thing -- that little No. 6 was looking down on us today." -- Coach Randy Edsall told the Hartford Courant, after the victory over Notre Dame.
