Just bought my tickets to the Wash St game in San Antonio. The ND website has lots of great tickets and they are reasonable too!! I had given up on my father and I going to another ND game together.

Gran,<br />I hear where you're coming from but people have to remember that Notre Dame is a private school. It isn't a state run program and doesn't receive funding like most other schools.<br /><br />So with that in mind, ND has to be more selective on who they accpet into their university. Obviously they can't have a review board made up of guys like us. With a review board, they could get caught up in passing judgements on their sports abilities. But with that would come a flood of law suits screaming discrimination by those not accepted. So how can a private university draw the line as to who makes it and most of all, who can afford it so they can pay bills?<br /><br />It's a very strict and thorough entrance exam. But even with that one must have the financial capabilities to pay. Again, ND is not a state run facility and can't wait for payment 20 years down the line line state schools.<br /><br />Nobody is saying that some kid from the ghetto couldn't make it and graduate. In order to drive the Ferrari home, at some point you're gunna have to pay for it before it leaves the lot. That's not on the Ferrari, that's on the buyer.<br /><br />My oldest daughter had what it took academically to go to ND. She was a 4.0 throughout her high school years, graduated as a junior, valedictorian. Qualified for some financial aid but not enough to pay for her education. God knows I didn't have the money. Would it had been nice for someone to say, "hey! c'mon in anyways!" but that's not how life works. If you open the door like that for one, you'd better be prepared to do it for all and ND just is not in that position.

i know i'm generally dismissed on this board. anyway...<br /><br />none of you think there are quality athletes out there, with high moral standards, raised by quality parents...like a dwight howard on the orlando magic that may not be "smart" enough to pass the nd academic standards...but would if given the chance, could graduate with hard work and would contribute greatly to the program?????<br /><br />it sounds like elitism at times on this board.

Then you go on to talk about how the price of tuition is proportionate to the value of the education.<br /><br />So don't worry about checking facts. Just take what someone says and run with it. You thought SC's was a lot lower b/c someone said so. That makes you look foolish.

The Ivy League does it right. They don't offer scholarships.<br /><br />I got the information from the respective colleges' fees and tuition home page. Duh.

SEAMUS<br /><br />I agree with you. <br /><br />If ND somehow decided to lower their academic standard than it would never be the same on game day Saturday. I don't think I could ever see ND in the same way as I use to. There just wouldn't be that special feeling after a ND win.<br /><br />GO IRISH!
