WHAT WE LEARNED IN NOVEMBER: The Cardinals can't shoot the ball with effectiveness. They rank 11th of 12 teams in the MAC in shooting, including .317 percent Dec. 3 against Butler in a game where their 38 points established a low point total for the program in the past 58 years.

DECEMBER AT A GLANCE: The Cardinals' schedule early in the month is tough with games against ranked foes Butler and Purdue, and a road matchup against in-state opponent Indiana State. Three consecutive home games late in the month against North Carolina Central, Maryland Eastern Shore and Manchester should help generate some momentum going into the MAC season.

PLAYER ROTATION: Usual starters -- PG Brawley Chisholm, SG Jauwan Scaife, C Jarrod Jones, PF Malik Perry, SF Terrence Watson. Key Subs -- G Randy Davis, G Pierre Sneed, F Maurice Hubbard.

ROSTER REPORT

--Freshman G Jauwan Scaife, a cousin of former Ball State star and NBA player Bonzi Wells, started his career with a bang. He scored in double figures in his first four games, but looked out of place against a good Butler team on Dec. 3 when he scored only three points and had three turnovers.

--PG Randy Davis was a huge disappointment last season in his effectiveness as a shooter, which was his strength in high school. He shot a dismal 26.8 percent from the field and .600 from the line last year. Davis is still struggling from the field this year at .313, but his FT percentage is up to .813.

--Ball State became so desperate for some kind of spark during a three-game losing streak that it turned to walk-on John Green on Dec. 3 in its 59-38 shellacking at the hands of Butler. Green had played 1 minute in the first three games, but saw 21 minutes action and started the second half against Butler. Green's hustle and enthusiasm earned him the extra minutes, but he scored only three points.
