--Nine times last season, Charleston Southern allowed 80 or more points, and that lack of defensive commitment was one of the main reasons that the Bucs struggled to stay in games, Radebaugh said. "That's my responsibility. I've got to look in the mirror first," he said. "I think I did a poor job of coaching the team defensively, and I've got to correct that."

--F Omar Carter, who was the Big South freshman of the year in 2007-08, chose to transfer at the end of last season. Carter was the team's leading rebounder at 7.9 boards per game, and was second on the team in scoring at 13.3 points per game. Carter, a cousin of the Golden State Warriors' Stephen Curry and Duke's Seth Curry, transferred to Appalachian State.

--G Tovi Bailey also transferred, to Division II Lander. Bailey wanted to play point guard and the Bucs made a commitment to play Jamarco Warren at the point, so Bailey chose to leave. He averaged 5.9 points and 2.7 assists last season.

LAST YEAR: 9-20 overall, 4-14 in the Big South.

HEAD COACH: Barclay Radebaugh (career 61-86); fifth year at Charleston Southern (40-78).
