WHAT WE LEARNED IN NOVEMBER: Evansville is throwing many young and inexperienced players into the fray right away. They have gotten necessary on-the-job training and will be better for it once Valley games begin. As long as Simmons can keep his team upbeat after losses, the Aces could upset some teams along the way.

DECEMBER AT A GLANCE: The Aces still have a long way to go and the five games left before the Missouri Valley opener will be beneficial. There are two road trips to Western Kentucky and Austin Peay, which should be good tests and get the Aces prepared for the hostile environments they'll encounter in the Valley.

PLAYER ROTATION: Usual Starters -- F James Haarsma, C Pieter van Tongeren, G Kavon Lacey, G Troy Taylor, G Colt Ryan. Key Subs -- F Bryan Bouchie, G Ned Cox, G Denver Holmes.

ROSTER REPORT:

--Freshman forward Derek Johnson did not suit up for the Miami (Ohio) game on Nov. 28 because of recurring knee problems. He underwent surgery in September for a dislocated kneecap and played in only one of the Aces' first five games.

--Freshman guard Troy Taylor stands only 6-foot, but has proven to be a rebounding machine. Taylor ranked fifth in the Valley with 6.2 rebounds per game as of Dec. 1. Taylor grabbed 12 in his second game against SIU Edwardsville on Nov. 18.
