WHAT WE LEARNED IN NOVEMBER: La Salle features a balanced scoring attack (four double-figure scorers through Dec. 2) and hits the glass with reckless abandon (plus-8.8 in rebounding margin). To compete for an A-10 title, they'll need to take better care of the basketball (17.2 TOs/game) and must be stingier at the defensive end (73.6 ppg allowed).

DECEMBER AT A GLANCE: Give John Giannini some credit here for putting together a balanced schedule -- one combining winnable games (vs. Lafayette, Hartford, Rider, Bucknell) with stiff tests (at Kansas, at Oklahoma State, vs. Cornell) -- so that his team should come into the new year with an over-.500 mark and with a good idea of the items on its things-to-do list.

PLAYER ROTATION: Usual Starters -- F Yves Mekongo, F Jerrell Williams, C Aaric Murray, G Rodney Green, G Kimmani Barrett. Key Subs -- G Ruben Guillandeaux, F Steve Weingarten, F Devon White, F Terrell Williams.

ROSTER REPORT:

--Senior G Ruben Guillandeaux (9.5 ppg in 2009-10) missed the Nov. 28 Villanova game with a foot injury. He's expected to return soon, though.

--Senior G Rodney Green has continued to improve his 3-point shooting aim over the course of his college career. He was 0-for-0 from behind the arc as a freshman, 16-for-47 from 3-point land as a sophomore (.340), 29-for-84 (.345) as a junior and was 7-for-17 (.412) through the first five games of the 2009-10 campaign.

--La Salle inked three players -- two point guards and a center -- during the early-signing period. The three members of the Class of 2014 are 6-foot PG Tyreek Duren from Philadelphia Catholic League hoops power Neumann-Goretti High School, 6-3 PG Sam Mills from Cardinal Gibbons High School in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and 6-10 C Matt Lopez from Sewell, N.J. Duren and Mills will shore up the point guard spot once Green departs to play pro ball somewhere next year, while Lopez is viewed as a project, albeit a tall one.

--Senior Yves Mekongo Mbala, La Salle's unsung hero who was a second-team Academic All-American last year, has decided not to use "Mbala" anymore and is being referred to as just Yves Mekongo this season. Through La Salle's first five games, Mekongo was averaging 10 ppg.
