Will Brown try to clean house at SMU?
"He basically told me that I wasn't good enough to play for him," Samarrippas told SMU student newspaper, The Daily Campus.
Samarrippas started at point guard for most of his two seasons in Dallas, averaging 6.9 points and a team-high 4.2 assists per game this past season.
"It's tough for me and it's tough for my family," Samarrippas said. "I was excited to play with Larry Brown because he's a Hall of Famer."
Samarrippas, who has not officially decided on transferring yet, said he has already received calls from coaches. If he transfers, he would have to sit out one year before playing his final two seasons.
Also shown the door by the 71-year-old Brown, who was formally introduced as the new coach Monday, were freshman reserve forwards Ricmonds Vilde and Eric Norman.
Brown is hoping to quickly raise the talent level at SMU before the school enters the Big East in 2013-14.
