WHAT WE LEARNED IN NOVEMBER: Miami once again is going to be strong on the perimeter but will have more threats than last season when it relied pretty much on Jack McClinton for eveything. Senior James Dews (15-of-33 on three-pointers through eight games) looks steadier, and guards Malcolm Grant (19-of-39) and Durand Scott (36 assists) have had an immediate impact with their play at both ends.

DECEMBER AT A GLANCE: The Hurricanes face an early league challenge when they go to Boston College on Dec. 6. The rest of the month isn't that challenging, but the Hurricanes are home for only three of the five games. They go to Stetson and then to nearby Sunrise for the Orange Bowl Classic against Florida Atlantic. They have a trip west to play Pepperdine on Jan. 3 before beginning ACC play.

PLAYER ROTATION: Usual Starters -- F Dwayne Colllins, F Cyrus McGown, F DeQuan Jones, G Durand Scott, G James Dews. G Key Subs -- F Adrian Thomas, G Garrius Adams, G Malcolm Grant.

ROSTER REPORT:

--F Reggie Johnson, who sat out last season as a redshirt, has dropped more than 40 pounds since arriving on campus in July of 2008 and is carrying 295 pounds on his 6-10 frame. He had seven rebounds in only 10 minutes in the victory over South Carolina.

--Freshman G Durand Scott had 18 assists against only three turnovers in his first two games to earn his way into the starting lineup.

--Senior F Dwayne Collins topped the 1,000-point mark with his nine points against Minnesota. He has 1,001 points in his career.
