Will it be dream or dreary Final Four?

In a matter of days, the Final Four will be set — and a quartet of teams will prepare to head to Houston, two more victories from cutting down the nets.

There are plenty of scenarios for what could play itself out this weekend. Here are a few of the options:

DREAM SCENARIO

Ohio State-Duke-Kansas-Florida

HOOPS HYSTERIA

This would be the ultimate matchup. You'd have the preseason favorites, the Duke Blue Devils, and the current front-runner in Ohio State.

Kansas probably has as much pure talent as anyone in the nation, and you'd also have Billy Donovan and the Florida Gators getting back for the first time since winning back-to-back titles in 2006 and 2007.

A trio of No. 1 seeds and a No. 2.

No shortage of talent, no shortage of storylines.

STUD FINAL FOUR

North Carolina-UConn-Kansas-BYU

This is the one with all the star power. You'd have The Jimmer from BYU, Kemba Walker and his UConn Huskies, Kansas' Morris Twins and the most hyped freshman in the nation, North Carolina wing Harrison Barnes.

No quartet would bring as much star power and intrigue to the table as this one. This one would be electrifying.

ALL-CINDERELLA

Marquette-Arizona-VCU-Butler

The three lowest seeds in their respective regions and 11th-seeded VCU, which gets my nod over No. 12 Richmond because most people didn’t even think the Rams would get into the Big Dance.

Let's face it. This wouldn't be the ideal scenario. The TV folks wouldn't be popping champagne.

Well, football-rabid Florida doesn't truly belong — but the other three are big-time hoop programs who eat, drink and breathe college basketball.

No one has more insane fans than Kentucky, the Dukies are, well, the Dukies — and Kansas is also one of the most storied programs in college basketball history.

This one would be absolute mayhem in Houston. This one is also a ticket scalpers dream.

OH, NO!!!

Marquette-San Diego State-Florida State-Wisconsin

Talk about a snooze-fest.

Four teams that don't exactly play a riveting brand of basketball. Marquette grinds you out, San Diego State loves to play halfcourt basketball, the Seminoles have major difficulty scoring the ball and Wisconsin scored 33 points not all that long ago against Penn State in the Big Ten tournament.

COACHING HEAVYWEIGHTS

North Carolina-Duke-Kansas-Florida

Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski has four national titles and is just three wins shy of Bob Knight’s all-time record.

Billy Donovan and Roy Williams each have a pair of national championships and Kansas' Bill Self is looking for his second.

Some day, all four will have a spot in the Hall of Fame. As soon as Sunday, all four could have a spot in this Final Four.

ACC REIGNS

North Carolina-Duke-Florida State-Anyone

A trio of teams out of the Atlantic Coast Conference and one interloper from the Southeast region (Florida, BYU, Wisconsin or Butler).

We'd never stop hearing about how the ACC is the best basketball conference in America — even though the league was brutal for much of the season (especially the bottom half).

Coach K and Roy would be gushing and gloating non-stop about their league.

MEDIA WISH LIST

Kentucky-UConn-VCU-Butler

Wildcats coach John Calipari is the ultimate lightning rod. Either you love him or, well, you don't. But he's never at loss for a word.

Same goes for UConn's Jim Calhoun.

VCU head coach Shaka Smart is poised well beyond his years and is extremely bright, yet always a terrific quote.

Then you've got Butler and a repeat Cinderella story — and there's no one who dead-pans better than senior big man Matt Howard.

BIG EAST SAVES FACE

Marquette-UConn-Anyone-Anyone

The Big East went to the Big Least after nine of its record-setting 11 teams were bounced in the first weekend.

However, if Buzz Williams' Marquette team and Calhoun and the UConn Huskies can each get to Houston, they will silence the critics who are mocking the Big East right now.
