SCOUTING THE NEWCOMERS: Freshman G Montez Blair could get minutes if he can continue to improve his shooting. Freshmen Pete Banos (6-10, 257) and Alex Newsome (6-9, 235) offer promising size.

KEY EARLY SEASON GAMES: Navy's non-conference schedule features only one major conference opponent (Seton Hall on Dec. 22). The Mids will also face Big South champion Radford (Nov. 13) and George Washington of the Atlantic-10 (Dec. 6).

PROGRAM DIRECTION: Navy is a young team, led by Chris Harris and Mark Veazey, and must see one of its younger players step up (most likely O.J. Avworo) if it is to continue contending in the league.

PROBABLE STARTING LINEUP: G O.J. Avworo, G Chris Harris, G Romeo Garcia, F T.J. Topercer C Mark Veazey.

ROSTER REPORT:

--G Romeo Garcia struggled with a nagging hamstring injury last season, limiting him to just nine starts. Reports indicate he will be fine for the Nov. 13 opener.

--In June, G Chris Harris was one of 23 players named to the Patriot League Men's Basketball Academic Honor Roll. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade-point average in the spring semester and be awarded a varsity letter.
