WHAT WE LEARNED IN NOVEMBER: Despite the return of four starters, the Gamecocks are going to be relying heavily on newcomers for depth. Injuries have made them very vulnerable inside, a situation that is going to have to be corrected by the time SEC play opens.

DECEMBER AT A GLANCE: The rivalry game against Clemson comes up Dec. 6, and the Gamecocks, who have lost to Miami, get a third shot at an ACC opponent when they go to Boston College on Dec. 30. Wofford, on the road on Dec. 19, could be a dangerous opponent.

PLAYER ROTATION: Usual Starters -- F Austin Steed, F Sam Muldrow, F Lakeem Jackson, G Brandis Raley-Ross, G Devan Downey. Key Subs -- F Evaldas Baniulis, F Johndre Jefferson, G Ramon Galloway, G Stephen Spinella.

ROSTER REPORT:

--Senior F Dominique Archie's consecutive games streak as a starter came to an end when he sustained a knee injury in the loss to Miami and he sat out the next game against Jacksonville. Archie had started all 98 games he had played for the Gamecocks, including five this season. Injured on Nov. 22, the 6-7 senior would be out indefinitely, coach Darrin Horn said.

--F Mike Holmes (eye) also is out indefinitely after returning from a visit home for the Thanksgiving weekend, the Columbia State newspaper reported.

--G Devan Downey was three points short of matching his career high after scoring 34 points in the 97-93 victory over Jacksonville. He scored half of his points over the last six minutes of the game, starting with two free throws that gave the Gamecocks the lead for good, 76-75.
