Antonio Bostic scored 18 points, Jereal Scott added 17, and Stephen F. Austin held UTEP to 31 percent shooting in a 53-35 win Saturday.
Bostic was 7 of 11 from the field. He added six rebounds and five assists, and was 2 for 2 on 3-pointers - the only 3s of the night for the Lumberjacks (2-2).
Julian Washburn was the high scorer for the Miners (1-3) with nine points. Cedrick Lang had seven points, four rebounds and four blocked shots.
UTEP scored the game's first four points, but Stephen F. Austin responded with a 12-0 run and never looked back. The Lumberjacks led by as many as 20 in the second half.
The win was Stephen F. Austin's first against UTEP; the Miners had won the only two previous meetings. The win also prevented the Lumberjacks' first three-game losing streak against nonconference opponents since the 2004-05 season.
