Subregional Loaded with Prospects

If you're heading to HSBC Arena for this week's NCAA Tournament subregional, you're going to see some very talented big men. The Buffalo subregional is loaded with players who are potential NBA players. According to the Hoops Report site, five of the players at the Buffalo site will be first-round picks if they all decide to come out after the season.
Here's a look at that fabulous five and a sixth player who is seen as a possible late first-rounder by some draft experts:
WES JOHNSON, Syracuse: Johnson, a 6-7 forward, is considered a lock for the lottery and could go in the top five. Johnson, a junior who transferred from Iowa State, is averaging 16.0 points, 8.4 rebounds, 1.9 blocks and 1.7 steals in his first -- and likely only -- season with the Orange. Johnson was named the Big East player of the year.
ELIAS HARRIS, Gonzaga: Harris, a 6-8 freshman, is a native of Germany who was off the radar of the major U.S. colleges when the Zags found him overseas. Hoops Report has Harris going eighth if he comes out this year. The German national team coach has advised Harris to stay in school another year. We'll see. Harris could become a major star if he leads Gonzaga past Syracuse in the second round.
DEVIN EBANKS, West Virginia: Ebanks, a 6-9 sophomore small forward, is considered a better pro prospect than his more celebrated teammate, Da'Sean Butler. Ebanks could sneak into the top 10 if he goes pro. He has deflected questions about his intentions recently. He is averaging 11.8 points and 8.2 rebounds for the Mountaineers.
DA'SEAN BUTLER, West Virginia: Butler, a 6-7 senior with terrific all-around skills, is projected as a late first-round pick. Butler averages 17.4 points and 6.3 rebounds for the Mountaineers. He's one of the best clutch shooters in the nation. His shot beat Georgetown in the Big East title game, earning him MVP honors for the tournament.
SOLOMON ALABI, Florida State: Alabi, a 7-1 sophomore center from Nigeria, has made rapid strides at Florida State. He's averaging 11.6 points, 6.2 rebounds and 2.4 blocked shot. Alabi is expected to be drafted from 17-19 in the first round if he comes out this year.
TREVOR BOOKER, Clemson: Booker, yet another 6-7 forward, is a versatile talent averaging 15.3 points, 8.3 rebounds, 1.4 blocks, 1.4 steals. He made first-team all-ACC this year and became the second player in ACC history with 1,500 points, 1,000 rebounds, 200 blocks and 200 steals. The other? Tim Duncan. Booker is projected as an early first-round pick, perhaps the end of the first.
So if you like big men, you'll love the Buffalo subregional.
