--Junior forward Lavoy Allen is starting to look like a future pro. Through the team's first seven games, the 6-9 forward was second on the Owls in scoring (12.1 ppg) while topping the squad and ranking fifth in the Atlantic 10 Conference in rebounding (9.4 rpg).

--Sophomore Juan Fernandez (11.3 ppg), an Argentinian import who was burdened with the unfair moniker "Pepe Sanchez with a jump shot" before he even played a game for the Owls, is starting to live up the hype. He leads an unselfish Cherry and White squad with 28 assists.

KEY EARLY-SEASON CONFERENCE GAME: vs. Villanova, Dec. 13 ?- Philadelphia Big 5 games are always huge barometers because they tell everyone who has more heart and guts. After shooting poorly in its first two games against Big East teams this season -- losses to Georgetown and St. John's -- Temple would like nothing better than to upset Villanova, the top program in the City of Philadelphia and a real threat to win the national championship.

LAST YEAR'S CONFERENCE RECORD: 11-5, tied for second place in Atlantic 10.
