Report: Duke's Rivers to enter NBA Draft

Duke guard Austin Rivers is set to leave the Blue Devils after one season to enter the NBA Draft, CBS Sports reported Friday.

The son of Boston Celtics coach Doc Rivers will soon sign with an agent and is expected to be a lottery pick in the June 28 draft, according to the report.

But the university said Friday that Rivers has not yet made a decision.

"Austin Rivers is discussing his future plans with family this weekend; an official announcement is expected next week," read a tweet from the Duke basketball program.

Rivers averaged a team-leading 15.5 points and was a unanimous selection as the ACC's rookie of the year.

''He hasn't decided anything yet,'' the elder Rivers told The Associated Press before the Celtics played at Philadelphia. ''He's got to make a decision. He leans one way one day, then the other. That's part of it.''

Rivers, 19, saw his freshman season end in disappointing fashion last week when the second-seeded Blue Devils were shocked 75-70 by 15-seed Lehigh in the NCAA Tournament.

The 6-foot-4-inch Rivers, who was ranked as high as No. 1 by some recruiting services coming out of Winter Park High School in Florida, also averaged 3.4 rebounds and 2.1 assists this season.

He also gave Duke fans a moment to remember on Feb. 8 with a buzzer-beating three-pointer to stun North Carolina 85-84 in Chapel Hill.

Duke, which finished 27-7, could also lose 6-foot-10-inch forward Mason Plumlee, who is reportedly considering entering the draft.

Plumlee, who averaged 11 points and nine rebounds this season, is currently projected as a late first-round or early second-round pick.

Underclassmen have until April 29 to declare for the NBA Draft. The NCAA requires players who have not hired an agent to declare their final intentions by April 10.
