On Nov. 16, Missouri coach Gary Pinkel was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. He later too blame for his actions, plead guilty and Missouri came down hard -- a one game suspension, salary frozen for year, no bowl bonus and $300K in fines. The Tigers finished the regular season at 7-5.

Hell hath no fury like a scorned booster. From a jail cell, Nevin Shapiro, who lived the life as Miami's top booster for eight years and went to prison for orchestrating a $930 million Ponzi scheme, allegedly provided Miami athletes with money, prostitutes, and countless other illegal benefits. The NCAA is investigating Shapiro's claims and no time table has been given for their findings.

One of the nation's premier college football powerhouses took a step back this year when longtime coach Jim Tressel resigned amid an NCAA investigation of rules violations during the 2010 season. Ohio State vacated all 12 wins from 2010 and saw then-star QB Terrelle Pryor leave the school in shame in midst of a tattoos-for-cash scheme. The Buckeyes are still awaiting word from the NCAA on final their penalties, which could include a larger loss of scholarships and a postseason bowl ban.

Thanks to conference realignment brought on by schools looking to make a statement, several lengthy rivalries are dead in the water. Texas and Texas A&M first played in 1894 and now, with A&M moving to the SEC in response to Texas landing its own TV network, the matchup is no more. The Border War, featuring Kansas-Missouri, began in 1891 and is now done because of Missouri bolting the Big 12 for the SEC. Is nothing sacred?

Quite possibly, the worst sports scandal in history. State College will never be the same. And neither will we.
