The Denver Broncos said they will grant Pro Bowl quarterback Jay Cutler his request and try to trade the disgruntled Pro Bowl quarterback. Broncos owner Pat Bowlen released a statement saying he and coach Josh McDaniels had been unable to get the 25-year-old rocket-armed QB to call them back over the past 10 days. Bowlen said he spoke with Cutler's agent, Bus Cook, yesterday and came away convinced "that Jay no longer has any desire to play for the Denver Broncos." Therefore, Bowlen said, "We will begin discussions with other teams in an effort to accommodate his request to be traded." The Falcons settled their claim that Vick owed them nearly $21.2 million for bonuses he received before his guilty plea to federal dogfighting charges. "To resolve uncertainty over the amount of the Falcons' claim, the parties have determined that the Falcons will receive an allowed general unsecured claim in the debtor's bankruptcy case in the amount of $7.5 million," said the court filing, which was entered last week. "If the district court's ruling is ultimately affirmed on appeal, the amount of the Falcons' claim will be reduced to $6.5 million." * A gun-possession case against New York Giants receiver Plaxico Burress was adjourned until June 15 unless he reaches a plea agreement with prosecutors to resolve the matter sooner. Burress accidentally shot himself in the thigh with an unlicensed gun he had stuffed into his waistband at a Manhattan nightclub last year. He is charged with a second-degree felony carrying a minimum prison sentence of 3 1/2 years. Burress' bail was continued at a hearing in Manhattan Criminal Court. His attorney, Benjamin Brafman, said after the hearing that no plea agreement had been reached and discussions with prosecutors were continuing. * PGA Tour winner and rising star Dustin Johnson was arrested and charged with driving under the influence early yesterday in Horry County, S.C., police said.
