Report: WVU players arrested in theft

Two West Virginia football players were arrested on charges of allegedly stealing Doritos, pretzels and Gatorade from a gas station near the Morgantown campus.

According to The Dominion Post, safeties Terence Garvin and Darwin Cook allegedly swiped the items on April 12.

Police reviewed the store's surveillance video and arrest warrants were obtained April 25 and the players were taken into custody Tuesday.

The pair are reportedly seen on the tape taking plastic bags from behind the store counter before pilfering three bottles of Gatorade, two bags of Doritos and a few bags of pretzels.

Garvin, 21, and Cook, 20, face a maximum fine of $250.

"I have been made aware of the situation and am gathering facts at this time. When all the facts are in, I will take the appropriate action," head coach Dana Holgorsen told the paper.

Both players started last season for the Mountaineers, with Cook finishing second on the team with 85 tackles and Garvin finishing fourth with 72.

Cook also made headlines last January in the Orange Bowl victory over Clemson, when he returned a fumble 99 yards for a touchdown and, in his exuberance, tackled the bowl mascot.

He apologized after the game upon being told there was a female inside the orange Obie suit.
