Five years ago, members of the 2005 USA TODAY All-USA high school football team were preparing to sign their letters-of-intent to play college football, just as players across the country are doing today. USA TODAY catches up with that class:

Offense

*Mitch Mustain, QB, Springdale (Ark.) High: He was 8-0 as a freshman starter at Arkansas but has not been a regular starter since transferring to Southern California.

*Chris "Beanie" Wells, RB, Garfield High (Akron, Ohio): After two 1,000-yard-plus seasons at Ohio State, he was selected 31st overall by the Arizona Cardinals in the 2009 NFL draft. He was a backup the last two years with 1,190 rushing yards.

*C.J. Spiller, RB, Union County High (Lake Butler, S.C.): He was sixth in the Heisman Trophy voting in 2009 while at Clemson, and he was chosen in the first round by the Buffalo Bills in the 2010 NFL draft. He was 10th in the NFL in overall return yardage.

*Sam Young, OL, St. Thomas Aquinas High (Fort Lauderdale): He started every game at Notre Dame and was a sixth-round draft pick of the Dallas Cowboys. He has an injured knee.

*Andre Smith, OL, Huffman High (Birmingham, Ala.): After winning the Outland Trophy his junior year at Alabama, he turned pro. But foot injuries limited him to five starts in two seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals.

*Justin Anderson, OL, Irwin County High (Ocilla, Ga.): After making the Southeastern Conference all-freshman team at Georgia, he moved to the defensive line as a junior. He played in one game before a turf toe injury ended his season.

*Jake Bscherer, OL, Sturgeon Bay (Wis.) High: He lettered three years at Wisconsin but didn't play this season.

*Carl Johnson, OL, Southern High (Durham, N.C.): He played in 51 games at Florida, starting 33. He was a preseason all-Southeastern Conference pick in 2010.

*Percy Harvin, athlete, Landstown High (Virginia Beach): In three years at Florida, he set a school record for a wide receiver with 32 touchdowns. He was The Sporting News NFL rookie of the year in 2009 and has 11 touchdowns in two seasons with the Minnesota Vikings.

*David Ausberry, WR, Lemoore (Calif.) High: He was an occasional starter at Southern California and was the team's fifth-leading receiver this season after switching to tight end.

*Konrad Reuland TE, Mission Viejo (Calif.) High: He transferred from Notre Dame to Stanford after his sophomore season and was honorable mention all-Pacific-10 as a senior this past season.

*Kai Forbath, K, Notre Dame High (Sherman Oaks, Calif.): He redshirted in 2006. He tied a UCLA and a Pac-10 record with 85 career field goals and converted 49 of his last 54 attempts of less than 50 yards.

Defense

*Gerald McCoy, DL, Southeast High (Oklahoma City): He was an All-American as a sophomore and junior at Oklahoma. He entered the NFL draft early and was selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with the No. 3 pick in 2010. The starter was placed on injured reserve after hurting his biceps Dec. 14 at the Washington Redskins.

*Ricky Sapp, DL, Bamberg Ehrhardt High (Bamberg, S.C.): He was a three-year starter at defensive end for Clemson. He was drafted in the fifth round by the Philadelphia Eagles in 2010 before suffering a season-ending knee injury in August.

*Jared Odrick, DL, Lebanon (Pa.) High: He was the 2009 Big Ten defensive player of the year at Penn State. The first-round pick of the Miami Dolphins in 2010 was injured in Week 1 against the Bills and was placed on injured reserve after breaking a leg in practice in October.

*Eddie Jones, DL, Kilgore (Texas) High: He was redshirted at Texas in 2007. He played in 50 games, starting eight. Has no more eligibility.

*Sergio Kindle, LB, Woodrow Wilson High (Dallas): He had six starts at Texas in four years. He was drafted in the second round by the Baltimore Ravens in 2010 and signed the minimum rookie contract. He fractured his skull in a fall on stairs at home and was placed on injured reserve.

*Brandon Graham, LB, Crockett High (Detroit): The Michigan team MVP in 2008 and '09 had 30 sacks in his college career. He was drafted in the first round by the Eagles in 2010 but tore a knee ligament in Week 14 and was placed on injured reserve.

*Allen Bradford, LB, Colton (Calif.) High: He played at Southern California in 2006 while he switched to tailback. He was a backup in 2006 after being injured in 2007 and was a medical redshirt in 2008. He had more than 100 carries in both 2009 and 2010. He has no more eligibility.

*Akeem Hebron, LB, Good Counsel High (Wheaton, Md.): He was a 2006 redshirt at Georgia. He was suspended in 2007 for a second arrest. He had a fracture dislocation of the left ankle in 2008. He appeared in 10 total games in 2009 and '10. He has no more eligibility.

*Taylor Mays, DB, O'Dea High (Seattle): He was a three-time All-American at Southern California and was drafted in the second round by the San Francisco 49ers in 2010. He made six starts and played in all 16 games.

*Jonas Mouton, DB, Venice (Calif.) High: He redshirted in 2006 at Michigan but played in 44 games, starting 34. He has no more eligibility.

*Antwine Perez, DB, Woodrow Wilson High (Camden, N.J.): He was a backup safety at Southern California in 2006 and sat out the 2007 season after transferring to Maryland. He was a backup in 2008 and 2009. He has no more eligibility.

*Ryan Donahue, P, St. Rita High (Chicago): He redshirted in 2006 but played in 51 games as the punter for Iowa. The 2010 Ray Guy Award finalist has no more eligibility.
