Prep games on some networks banned
The NCAA ruled Thursday it would ban events involving high school athletes being shown on TV networks affiliated with universities.
The ban pulls to a halt the Texas Longhorns' plans to use their ESPN-owned Longhorn Network to broadcast 18 high school football games this season, The Austin American-Statesman reported Thursday.
Other members of the Big 12 conference had expressed concern that the Longhorns recruiters would be at more of an advantage recruiting athletes broadcast on the school's network.
ESPN is reportedly paying the University of Texas $300 million over 20 years for the Longhorn Network.
