Pakistan's Misbah-ul-Haq will not face action for representing the Bangalore Royal Challengers - a side owned by a liquor baron - in the IPL.

The Pakistan Cricket Board have a long-standing policy of discouraging players from being associated with alcohol or tobacco and had previously expressed concern about Misbah's position.

However, the governing body have confirmed Misbah has not breached any rules and told him to concentrate on playing for Vijay Mallaya's team.

PCB chief executive Shafqat Naghmi said: "He is not promoting liquor or joining (the company's) advertising campaign. He is just playing cricket for an IPL team.

"I had a chat with Misbah and told him not to worry about it and just concentrate on his batting.

"What we can do is ask him not to appear in any commercial endorsing liquor or be a part of any other advertising campaign."
