Johnson (forearm) agreed to a one-year, $8 million contract with the Padres on Tuesday, ESPN.com reports.
The $8 million is guaranteed, with the potential for higher earnings based on games started. After a string of successful seasons in Florida, including two All-Star selections, Johnson stumbled with the Blue Jays in 2013, posting a 6.20 ERA in an injury-plagued campaign. He'll be seeking to reestablish himself as part of San Diego's rotation next season before hitting the open market again in 2014.
