DeRosa has decided to retire rather than play another season, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.
The Blue Jays recently exercised DeRosa's $750,000 option for 2014, but the 38-year-old has decided to call it career after 15 major-league seasons. DeRosa has served a bench role for five different teams since 2009, and hit just .235/.326/.407 in 88 games this year. He'll walk away from the game with a .752 career OPS and an even 100 home runs.
