McCann signed a a five-year, $85 million deal with the Yankees that includes a sixth-year vesting option for $15 million, FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports.
McCann projects as a huge upgrade over Francisco Cervelli (hand/elbow) and Chris Stewart, instantly making the Yankees a better team. Given that he bats left-handed and hits the majority of his home runs to right field, McCann should enjoy hitting at Yankee Stadium. He'll also be able to DH on his days off from catching, which may in turn improve his chances of staying healthy. All in all, McCann's move to New York should be a positive development for his fantasy value. He'll turn 29 in February, though he has more tread on his tires (1,105 career games) than most catchers of the same age.
