Back spasms have sidelined starting catcher Tyler Flowers, so the team has been leaning on Gimenez of late. Gimenez has two home runs in 42 plate appearances this season (the first two home runs of his career), but he will revert to a deep reserve role when Flowers returns. In the event Flowers hits the disabled list, Gimenez's role would depend on who the White Sox recall from the minors. He might keep the role if they add organizational filler, but he would probably take a backseat if they select prospect Josh Phegley.
