Howard (knee) said he no longer has any pain in his leg, the Phillies' official site reports. "All the swelling and inflammation is out of it," Howard said. "Now it's finally getting stronger."
Howard underwent surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee in July. He has also been dealing with some lingering effects of his 2012 Achilles surgery. Howard said he has been able to do cardio work this offseason for the first time since 2010. He is hoping for a return to his previous form after two injury-plagued seasons in a row.
