The Rangers have agreed to a deal with the Tigers that would send Ian Kinsler to Detroit in exchange for slugger Prince Fielder, CBSSports.com's Jon Heyman reports.
Kinsler will become the Tigers' new everyday second baseman and is a potential candidate to serve as the leadoff hitter for the Tigers in 2014. The trade allows the Rangers to play Jurickson Profar at second base full time, and also frees up some extra cash for Detroit, as they would be off the hook for the remainder of Fielder's $214 million contract. The move to Detroit figures to send Kinsler's power numbers further south, but he could easily reemerge as a 100-run player atop a more potent lineup than he enjoyed in Arlington last season.
