Niese allowed two runs on six hits and four walks, while striking out five over 5.2 innings, against the Cubs on Sunday, though he was stuck with the 5-2 loss.

Opposing pitcher Scott Feldman drove in two runs with a single to center in the fourth inning, but Niese was able to strike out Starlin Castro with the bases loaded to limit the damage. It wasn't an awful performance for Niese, but he wasn't especially sharp either, and his next start will come on the road, where the left-hander owns a 6.45 ERA for the season.
