Ellis was plowed over at the plate by Cardinals outfielder Jon Jay during the second inning of Friday's game. He was on the ground for several minutes but after being examined by trainers, he stayed in the game.

Impact
The hit looked both vicious and clean as Jay helped put the Cardinals up 1-0 in the second. Ellis definitely appeared shaken but obviously dusted himself off and continued. He comes to bat in the third, so if there are any lingering effects, they'll be visible then.
