Impact
The veteran outfielder continues to put up solid power and speed numbers when given a chance to play, but his .224 average coupled with the emergence of a now injured Chris Coghlan (calf) and rookie Marcell Ozuna has forced Ruggiano to the bench more often than not. Sunday's start represented his first game action since last Wednesday and his first start since June 9. Ozuna has predictably fallen off since Giancarlo Stanton returned from the disabled list and if the rookie's struggles continue, Ruggiano will benefit with more regular playing time. With eight homers and eight steals in 196 at-bats so far, Ruggiano becomes a player of interest whenever his name is penciled into the lineup.
