Red Sox manager John Farrell reiterated his desire to avoid using Bailey on back-to-back nights initially upon his return from the disabled list, the Providence Journal reports. "He's had one outing in 19 days. And while he's cleared and fully ready to go, I think it's best that we get a couple of appearances under his belt before we look to do that," Farrell said.
Farrell will monitor Bailey's workload at the outset, but the closer should eventually get to the point where working in consecutive games is not a concern. Prior to his biceps injury, Bailey had appeared in 13 of Boston's first 25 games.
