Descalso started seven of the first eight games at second base, but with David Freese back in action, Descalso will cede playing time at the keystone to Matt Carpenter. Descalso will still make a few starts a week thanks to his ability to play the three infield positions left of first base, but he will be more utility player than regular moving forward.
