Darnell (oblique) was removed from the DL on Saturday and was promptly optioned to Triple-A Tucson, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Darnell, who has been out since early spring training due to an oblique strain, made his season debut Saturday following a recent rehab assignment. He started at first base in Tucson, going 2-for-5 with one RBI and two runs scored. If injuries were to befall the corner infield spots with the Padres, Darnell may be at the top of the list for a call-up. However, he'll remain in Triple-A in the interim.
