May 22 6:48pFollowing the demotion of Josh Rutledge to Triple-A Colorado Springs on Wednesday, LeMahieu will assume regular starting duty at second base, the Denver Post reports.
ImpactLeMahieu proved to be an exceptional defender at second base last season, a far cry from the somewhat erratic Rutledge, a converted shortstop. While he doesn't have the power and speed upside of Rutledge, LeMahieu matured as a hitter late last season and carried that approach over to Triple-A to begin 2013, batting .364 over 143 at-bats before earning his call-up. Nearly all of his fantasy value will reside in his batting average, making LeMahieu a consideration only in NL-only and deep mixed leagues at this point.
