The Rangers traded Gentry to the A's on Tuesday, Jeff Passan of Yahoo! Sports reports. Texas will receive Michael Choice and minor league infielder Chris Bostick in the deal, while Oakland will also receive right-handed pitcher Josh Lindblom.
Gentry's career splits against lefties and righties are pretty even, and he's improved his on-base percentage every year since breaking into the majors, up to .373 in 2013. The 30-year-old is an upgrade, defensively, over Choice, and figures to open the year as the A's fourth outfielder.
