Joe Jordan, the Phillies' director of player development, said Ruf's play in left field "has been very good," the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Impact
Ruf has made just one error in left for Triple-A Lehigh Valley in his first season as an outfielder. He got off to a rough start at the plate, but has heated up during the month of May. Ruf is currently hitting .285/.357/.488 with five home runs in 123 at-bats. The Phillies do not have a need for Ruf right now, but his progress defensively should earn him promotion to the majors when an outfield spot opens up.
