The A's traded Choice to the Rangers on Tuesday, Jeff Passan of Yahoo! Sports reports. Oakland will receive Craig Gentry and right-handed pitcher Josh Lindblom, while the Rangers will also receive minor league infielder Chris Bostick.
The 10th overall pick back in 2010, Choice hit .302/.390/.445 with 14 home runs and 89 RBI in 132 games with Triple-A Sacramento last season. It seems, however, that the A's feel Gentry's defensive prowess gives them a better chance to win now, and perhaps they have doubts about Choice's ability to hit for power in the majors, since his home run numbers have fallen off as he's advanced through the minors. Regardless, Choice could potentially open the year as the starting left fielder for Texas.
