Chacin (shoulder) is not expected to require surgery, but will miss at least four-to-six weeks, MLB.com's Thomas Harding reports.
Chacin will avoid going under the knife, but will still need at least a month to execute his proposed plan for rest and strengthening exercises. He'll return to throwing after that, at which point a clearer timetable for a return to the mound could be established. There remains a chance Chacin won't pitch for the Rockies again in 2014, as it wouldn't be surprising to see the Rockies exercise caution with the 26-year-old, especially if the team is far out of the division race.
