Based on his three-year averages, expect Hart to score 85 runs, hit between 25-30 home runs, drive in 75-85 runs and hit around .275. If you are looking for a consistent bat that has 1B/OF position eligibility, Hart is a solid option. - Ryan Fowler

The Nationals’ third basemen received one of the “best” cortisone shots in recent history. Zimmerman’s ailing right shoulder caused horrific results at the dish during the first-half of 2012 (.243 BA with eight home runs). After the All-Star break, he hit .319 with 17 home runs. I’m still kicking myself for dropping him the day before that cortisone shot. I wish I was kidding. - Ryan Fowler

LaRoche’s 154 games played and 571 at bats were both career highs in 2012. Little surprise, the left-handed hitter’s power numbers came against righties: 28 doubles, 22 home runs and 72 RBI. His 33 homers were second among fellow first basemen (Edwin Encarnacion, 42). The Nats paid him and now have to figure out what to do with 1B/OF Michael Morse (49 home runs last two seasons). - Ryan Fowler

The consensus among Reds’ fans is that since Ludwick got paid (two-year, $15-million contract), his numbers will take a significant dip in 2013. However, if you look at his season stats over the past five seasons a dip would be par for the course. It’s been a slight rollercoaster ride for the 35-year-old outfielder with most of his 20’s spent in the minors. His 26 bombs in 2012 were the most for Ludwick since his 2008 season with the Cardinals (37). - Ryan Fowler

Big Papi has been riddled with a variety of ailments over the years, but his Achilles’ heel injury last season kept him out of 72 games. His 90 games played and 324 at bats were career lows since his days in Minnesota. It’s a shame, too, because Ortiz’s 14.1 AB/HR for the season was his best ratio since 2006 when he hit 54 home runs (10.3 AB/HR). Ortiz planned to begin agility drills and running on that Achilles in January. - Ryan Fowler

Those who remember Brandon Moss as a member of the Red Sox, Pirates and Phillies let out a collective “huh?” after the first basement broke out for an unexpected 21 home runs in 84 games with the Athletics in 2012. His .291 / .358 / .596 triple slash should regress in 2013, but the power against righties is impossible to ignore. Moss hit 19 out of 21 home runs against right-handed pitchers. - Ryan Fowler

Sure, he plays at Coors Field half the season and his home/away splits are embarrassing, but Rosario led all catchers in home runs last season with 28. To shine a brighter light on those 28 bombs, Rosario (.270 average) had 83 fewer at bats than A.J. Pierzynski (.278 average) who finished second among catchers with 27 home runs. Among those catchers who finished inside the top 10 in home runs, Rosario boasted the fifth-best batting average. - Ryan Fowler

Among the league leaders in AB/HR ratio the last few seasons, Beltre’s 2012 season splits don’t vary too much pre- and post-All-Star break. However, he did smack six more home runs (21) in 34 fewer at bats (285) after the break. I have him ranked as the third-best fantasy baseball third baseman. He’ll be off the board early. - Ryan Fowler

A historically poor hitter against right-handed pitchers (.223 vs. RHP), Gomes received a limited number of at bats the past few seasons. However, according to new Red Sox skipper John Farrell, Gomes could be an everyday player in 2013. The left fielder last played full-time with the Cincinnati Reds in 2010. He finished that season with more home runs  versus righties (12) than lefties (six) in 511 at bats. In fantasy baseball, where sample size shines a different light on statistics, it should be known Gomes' 18 home runs came in only 279 at bats last season. - Ryan Fowler

The Yankees flirted. The Padres said, "No thanks."  So, Headley remains confined to the fantasy baseball asylum known as PETCO Park for 81 games this season. Despite his high AB/HR rate in the second half, Headley’s home/away splits are worth noting.

Home: .272 / .357 / .455 with 13 HR
Away: .300 / .395 / .541 with 18 HR

His post-All-Star batting average (.308) was nearly 40 points higher than his first-half effort (.267). Headley scored 56 runs, hit 23 home runs, drove in 73 and swiped seven bases, too. He turns 29-years-old in May. - Ryan Fowler
