Timmy has allowed four or more runs in 12 out of his 18 starts this season. He finished inside the top 10 in strikeouts a season ago, but his 104 K’s in 2012 currently rank 18th overall. We have enough 2012 data to assume this funk on the mound isn’t something that’s going to be resolved in one or two quality starts. Always a streaky hitter, Jones is in the midst of a two-month stretch of consistency. On May 26, his batting average was .214. Today, it’s .268. Jones hit at a .300 clip in June and so far in July is hitting .323 with some pop.  - Ryan Fowler
 

Milwaukee hasn’t set a return date for starting pitcher Shaun Marcum (elbow). This opens the door for Fiers to start a few more games before Ron Roenicke is forced to make a tough decision.

Fiers, 1-1 in his last three starts, owns a 2.31 ERA for the season, but has averaged over eight punch outs per game those last three starts. He’s got St. Louis and Cincinnati next week. Not ideal, but worthy of a start in mixed leagues. - Ryan Fowler

His power numbers aren’t impressive, but if you need some assistance in batting average and/or on-base percentage with a chance at some stolen bases, Aoki is your man. The stage was set for you to be the hometown hero. Granted, the AL trailed 8-0 when you pinch hit for David Ortiz in the 7th inning, but in two at-bats you grounded out and struck out. The only thing the Royals’ fan base wanted was a base knock.
