If you would have told Ryan Mathews' owners back in August that he'd fumbled only twice 12 weeks into the season, they'd be thrilled.  In his first two seasons, Mathews fumbled nine times and lost the pigskin four times.  However, those same owners would be furious to learn Mathews only has one touchdown on 146 carries this season.  He's only broke off one run of more than 20 yards (31).  He's 25th in fantasy points among running backs behind Andre Brown and Felix Jones.  Although Cincinnati isn't great against the rush (116 ypg.), Mathews' ineffective play and lack of scoring chances, with Philip Rivers chucking the ball around as of late, is enough to earn him RB3 status this week. - Ryan Fowler

How's this for an analogy: John Fox's reliable sedan broke down and due to massive repairs was scheduled to be in the body shop until 2013.  So, he dipped into his garage and dusted off his rarely used sports car.  Sure it breaks down more times than not, but when the top is down and that baby purrs, it's a sight to see.  With Willis McGahee out for the season, Fox burned fantasy pundits, who promoted Ronnie Hillman all last week, when he named Knowshon Moreno the starter Sunday morning.  Moreno had been inactive since Week 2.  Now, he becomes a shiny new toy on the waiver wire for those who missed out in Week 12.  My advice: leave him in the garage.  For starters, he's facing the top-ranked Tampa Bay rush defense, a defense Peyton Manning should carve up via the pass.  Also, in 39 career games, Moreno has averaged only 51 rush yards per game (4.05 YPR) with 13 touchdowns and eight lost fumbles.  I'm not sold on his durability either. - Ryan Fowler

I must admit, I'm quite impressed with Steven Jackson's stats the last three weeks.  He's averaged 107 rush yards per game against the Cardinals, Jets and the 49ers with one score during that strech.  S-Jax faces San Francisco's fourth-ranked rush defense (91.1 rypg.) again in Week 13.  Second-string running back Daryl Richardson was nipping on Jackson's heels right before the trade deadline and it seemed as if the Rams were ready to look towards the future, but Jackson has averaged 22 carries per game over the past three games.  Odd considering Jackson will be a free agent at season's end, but perhaps St. Louis is getting every last drop of Jackson's talent before saying goodbye.  Still, I believe the 49ers learn from their Week 10 mistakes that allowed the Rams to tie, load up the box against Jackson and force Sam Bradford to make plays. - Ryan Fowler

After a sloppy offensive performance against Buffalo in Week 12 (240 passing yards, TD and INT), Luck heads to Detroit to take on a weak Lions' secondary, but owners should avoid falling victim to the tempting matchup.  The Colts' quarterback may have won four out of his last five games, but his fantasy numbers have failed to overwhelm owners.  In his last three games, Luck has averaged just over 17 fantasy points per game.  In his five games on the road this season, Luck has averaged a paltry 14.2 fantasy points per game.  He may have a better record than RG3, but fantasy owners would rather have Washington's quarterback (285 fantasy points compared to 218). - Ryan Fowler

As of press time, 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh had not yet announced his starting quarterback for Week 13.  However, with back-to-back wins in his first two career starts, I think Kaepernick earns the nod against the Rams.  He actually finished the game for Alex Smith (concussion) three weeks ago against the Rams.  Kaepernick was 11-17 for 117 yards with eight carries for 66 yards and a touchdown against St. Louis the first time around.  He looks really comfortable in his new starting role and could post 20-25 fantasy easily against the Rams as he provides the rushing ability some fantasy owners desire their quarterbacks to possess.  St. Louis is allowing approximately 18 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks through Week 12. - Ryan Fowler

The suggestion to start Brandon Stokley is for owners who a) like to gamble with their wide receiver starts b) play in deeper/PPR leagues and/or c) leagues where you must start three wide receivers.  Stokley has averaged roughly nine fantasy points per game over his last three contests in standard scoring leagues on FOXSports.com.  In PPR leagues, his average fantasy points per game is over 10 during that same stretch.  Expect Peyton Manning to air it out against the Buccaneers poor pass defense - still dead last at 316 pass yards allowed per game.  - Ryan Fowler

We, fantasy owners, live in a world of constant quantitative overanalysis.  When I watched Bryce Brown on Monday night, I abandoned the game logs and used my two, laser-enhanced eyes to judge his fantasy value the rest of the season subjectively.  Without question, Carolina poor rush defense be damned, this back belongs in the NFL.  All signs point to LeSean McCoy missing his second game due to a concussion, leaving the door open for Brown.  The rookie shredded Carolina to the tune of 178 yards on 19 carries with two touchdowns (two fumbles, too).  Owned in only 12.5 percent of fantasy leagues on FOXSports.com, Brown will be a hot waiver wire add, but should also be considered a solid RB2/3 start against the Cowboys in Week 13.  Dallas let Alfred Morris run 24 times for 113 yards in Week 12. - Ryan Fowler

With Titus Young inactive and in the coach's dog house, Ryan Broyles shined in the Lions' Thanksgiving Day game against Houston.  The rookie receiver finished with six receptions (12 targets) for 126 yards opposite Calvin Johnson.  Megatron believes fans will see Broyles in the starting lineup for the rest of the season.  If so, Broyles has a tasty Week 13 matchup against a Colts' pass defense ranked 19th in the league (allowing 233 yards per game) that has allowed 19 touchdown passes with a league-low five interceptions.  Matthew Stafford should go to work on that secondary Sunday.  Broyles is a low-end WR2. - Ryan Fowler

If you own an offensive skill player that is first or second on the team's depth chart and their team is playing the Saints, here's a bit of advice: start them.  Since Week 1, the Saints' defense has allowed dozens of fantasy points to quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers, tight ends, and kickers.  That trend isn't going to dramatically change on a short week as they face the Falcons on Thursday night.  Owners of Jacquizz Rodgers may have the matchup they've waited for all season.  The speedy running back is coming off a Week 12 performance that saw him outgain Michael Tuner on the ground 49 yards (10 carries) to 17.  Rodgers also scored a touchdown and pick up 30 yards on two receptions.  From a distance, I could see Turner quickly becoming the Falcons version of Brandon Jacobs when he was in New York.  Rodgers is ready to break loose and Thursday's matchup against the Saints is too tempting to pass up.  Rodgers is a RB2/3. - Ryan Fowler
