Football chat recap with Mike Harmon
3:04 | Mike Harmon: Good afternoon, everybody. Welcome to the party. We're at the halfway mark & things are getting interesting. Tuesday November 3, 2009 3:04 Mike Harmon |
3:05 | Fox Fantasy: Bill leads off: What's up with Megatron? Was he at practice today? Tuesday November 3, 2009 3:05 Fox Fantasy |
3:06 | Mike Harmon: Bill - Thanks for the note. Megatron was perhaps the most vexing of the injuries to hit fantasy owners this past week. Tuesday November 3, 2009 3:06 Mike Harmon |
3:07 | Mike Harmon: He started the week with most of a practice load and tapered off toward the end of the week before ruling himself out.Johnson's expected back for Week 9 against Seattle, but I'd stockpile reserves just in case. Tuesday November 3, 2009 3:07 Mike Harmon |
3:08 | Fox Fantasy: Kyle asks: My two RBs are LT and Jacobs. Do I need to make a move? Tuesday November 3, 2009 3:08 Fox Fantasy |
3:09 | Mike Harmon: Kyle - I think you're fine with those two right now. LT getting a huge weekly workload right now & running pretty well (I know he played the Raiders). As for Jacobs, it's just a question of Bradshaw's health. This foot injury looks like something that will linger and put Jacobs in the driver's seat. Tuesday November 3, 2009 3:09 Mike Harmon |
3:10 | Mike Harmon: Still, it's always good to pile up insurance on the bench. And, Jacobs will score eventually. Tuesday November 3, 2009 3:10 Mike Harmon |
3:10 | Fox Fantasy: Arianna loves Harmon (nice one) asks: Looking ahead to week 10, my QB (Schaub) has a bye and I am wondering who I could get as a replacement. I'm in a 12-team league and the pickings are slim. Right now these are available: Cassel, T. Edwards,J Campbell, V Young, and the others are worse (oak, tampa, detroit, st. louis, cleveland QBs). Thanks. Tuesday November 3, 2009 3:10 Fox Fantasy |
3:11 | Mike Harmon: Arianna - That's the way to push to the front of the line! I hope you're sincere. Tuesday November 3, 2009 3:11 Mike Harmon |
3:14 | Mike Harmon: Cassel vs. Oakland is one with potential. VY running against the Bills is a possibility. Buffalo is getting run over on a weekly basis, so there's potential for a decent rushing total there (making up for whatever passing yardage he doesn't provide). Edwards against the Titans is another option. TEN returned Cortland Finnegan to the fray this week and they looked solid against David Garrard. Will Edwards build on Fitzpatrick's quasi-success downfield, or will he check down again? Tuesday November 3, 2009 3:14 Mike Harmon |
3:14 | Fox Fantasy: John wants to know: Warner and Eli Manning have been causing me pain lately. Should I drop one for McNabb? Tuesday November 3, 2009 3:14 Fox Fantasy |
3:18 | Mike Harmon: John - Warner's turnovers against Carolina were out of character, but we definitely need to be concerned about Eli right now. I would certainly look to flip Eli for McNabb if he's available, although I do have to wonder why he'd be there. Anyway, given the speed options and rising star Brent Celek, I'd make the move in a heartbeat. Tuesday November 3, 2009 3:18 Mike Harmon |
3:18 | ![]() Tuesday November 3, 2009 3:18 |
3:19 | Fox Fantasy: Lee Michaels asks: Hey guru, i'll sparee you my sob story about Owen Daniels, sniff sniff. That was me crying. How important does Walter become with Johnson's and Owens injury? Also, if you would, does Fumblerina (Slaton) get back on the field and will he be valuable? Thanks in advance.Tuesday November 3, 2009 3:19 Fox Fantasy |
3:19 | Mike Harmon: Lee -- Thanks for the line. Good to hear from you. Tales of woe regarding Owen Daniels leave me cold. I lost a matchup by 0.9 points when Chris Cooley's ankle crumbled ... Tuesday November 3, 2009 3:19 Mike Harmon |
3:22 | Mike Harmon: Walter definitely pops up on the radar, although he's already seeing six or more targets. I don't know how much more upside there is, although perhaps you'll see a few more red zone targets. As for Slaton, he leaves all of us wanting. I believe you have a three-man committee going forward. Moats takes top billing w/ Slaton as a receiving option and Brown in the short yardage role. It's a mess. Tuesday November 3, 2009 3:22 Mike Harmon |
3:23 | Fox Fantasy: Reed asks: What is your take on Jonathan Stewart going forward - how about this week vs NO? Falcons seemed to be able to run the ball on them. Tuesday November 3, 2009 3:23 Fox Fantasy |
3:26 | Mike Harmon: Reed - I like the spot against the Saints after watching Turner last night. Tuesday November 3, 2009 3:26 Mike Harmon |
3:26 | Mike Harmon: You wish that the passing game was a bigger threat, but I still see Williams and Stewart getting their numbers. And, he's the goal-line threat. Tuesday November 3, 2009 3:26 Mike Harmon |
3:27 | Fox Fantasy: Dan asks: I had been pretty confident at QB, but am now a little worried after Warner brought out his inner Ricky Stanzi and Schaub lost his security blanket... Should I stay put with these two or look for someone else? Tuesday November 3, 2009 3:27 Fox Fantasy |
3:29 | Mike Harmon: Dan - I absolutely love the Ricky Stanzi reference. That is a quality bridge to the NFL world. But, the Hawkeyes march on (I am a Big 10 product, and I shan't apologize)! Tuesday November 3, 2009 3:29 Mike Harmon |
3:31 | Mike Harmon: I think you need to stay put. What better are you going to find on the wire or via trade? Tuesday November 3, 2009 3:31 Mike Harmon |
3:31 | Fox Fantasy: Ben asks: Is Pierre Thomas again the main man in NO, or not yet? Tuesday November 3, 2009 3:31 Fox Fantasy |
3:33 | Mike Harmon: Ben - It's tough to call one of those backs "the man." Sure, he scored twice, but it was still a workload split. Tuesday November 3, 2009 3:33 Mike Harmon |
3:34 | Mike Harmon: He busted through for the early touchdown (a great run), but again, you saw Reggie Bush and Mike Bell factoring into the mix. It's a committee situation, but you certainly feel better after last night. Tuesday November 3, 2009 3:34 Mike Harmon |
3:34 | Fox Fantasy: Paul asks: Should I trade Matt Forte for Vernon Davis? Tuesday November 3, 2009 3:34 Fox Fantasy |
3:37 | Mike Harmon: Paul - C'mon, man! I understand your frustration with Forte, but I can't advise you to make that deal, even if Alex Smith only has eyes for Davis. You just can't trade a 20-touch back for a tight end, even if he's now reaching the level of 'unbenchable." Tuesday November 3, 2009 3:37 Mike Harmon |
3:37 | Fox Fantasy: Arthur asks: Almighty fantasy one - I have been hearing Tom Brady, Randy Moss, and Wes Welker are primed to have a fantasy explosion coming off their bye week. Can you see Moss getting 10 TDs the rest of the way, starting in week 9? Tuesday November 3, 2009 3:37 Fox Fantasy |
3:40 | Mike Harmon: Arthur - Welcome to the fray. I do believe that you'll have some explosions in the offing in coming weeks and some interesting games against Indy, New Orleans. I shan't say that he goes for 10 scores, but 6-8 isn't out of the question. He may post a hat trick against JAX in the fantasy playoffs. Tuesday November 3, 2009 3:40 Mike Harmon |
3:40 | Fox Fantasy: Bucobob asks: Should I play Percy Harvin? Or do you think Johnny Knox would be better play this week? Tuesday November 3, 2009 3:40 Fox Fantasy |
3:41 | Mike Harmon: Bucobob - You're not playing Harvin this week, as the Vikings are on a Bye. He'll look good practicing his 40-yard sprints. In this case, Knox is in by default. Tuesday November 3, 2009 3:41 Mike Harmon |
3:41 | Fox Fantasy: Andrew asks: Better D/ST play this week: Indy vs. HOU or Denver vs. PIT? Tuesday November 3, 2009 3:41 Fox Fantasy |
3:42 | Which D/ST will have a better Week 9? Indy vs. HOU ( 64% ) ( 36% ) Tuesday November 3, 2009 3:42 |
3:43 | Mike Harmon: Andrew - I would play the Colts vs. Houston at home. Stingy pass defense (three touchdowns allowed this season) and getting healthy. HOU comes in minus Daniels and with questions at RB. I would stay away from Pittsburgh coming out of the Bye. Tuesday November 3, 2009 3:43 Mike Harmon |
3:43 | Fox Fantasy: Darryl asks: What do you expect from Cedric Benson this weekend against the Ravens? Is he a must-start? Tuesday November 3, 2009 3:43 Fox Fantasy |
3:45 | Mike Harmon: Darryl - Cedric is a must-start every week. He's been dominant to date with the Bengals committing to the run. Benson ran over the Ravens for 120 yards on 27 attempts and scored a touchdown. Leave him in your lineup. Tuesday November 3, 2009 3:45 Mike Harmon |
3:45 | ![]() Tuesday November 3, 2009 3:45 |
3:45 | Fox Fantasy: Tim the teacher (Hmm) asks: Schaub vs Indy or Hasselbeck at home vs the Lions this week... Who ya got? Tuesday November 3, 2009 3:45 Fox Fantasy |
3:48 | Mike Harmon: Tim - Thanks for improving the world. Do you trust Hasselbeck? That is your question. I take Hasselbeck against the Lions this weekend. Lions had given up three touchdowns per game before shutting out Marc Bulger in Week 8 (I won't belabor the point and wring my hands over that game any longer). Tuesday November 3, 2009 3:48 Mike Harmon |
3:49 | Mike Harmon: Indy has been solid vs. the pass, as I laid out earlier. Tuesday November 3, 2009 3:49 Mike Harmon |
3:49 | Fox Fantasy: Lisa asks: If you had a choice to pick up either Malcom Floyd, Pierre Garcon, or Sam Aiken - which would you go with? Tuesday November 3, 2009 3:49 Fox Fantasy |
3:51 | Mike Harmon: Lisa --Thanks for the note. I'll eliminate Aiken from consideration, although he did come through as a "Hail Mary" pick on the FOX Fantasy Football radio show for me a couple weeks ago. Tuesday November 3, 2009 3:51 Mike Harmon |
3:52 | Mike Harmon: As for splitting Garcon from Floyd ... Garcon probably has another week or two in an extended role before Anthony Gonzalez returns. Floyd steps into the starting role for the Chargers following the release of Chris Chambers. I like the 6-foot-5 target and believe he has strong long-term play. I believe he's your option. Tuesday November 3, 2009 3:52 Mike Harmon |
3:53 | Fox Fantasy: Eddy asks: Carson Palmer (Bal) or Tony Romo (Phi) this week? Tuesday November 3, 2009 3:53 Fox Fantasy |
3:55 | Mike Harmon: Eddy - It's a good dilemma to have. Carson comes off of a Bye, but I like the roll that Romo is on right now. He's been more comfortable and fluid in the pocket in recent weeks, and I expect to that continue against Philly. Romo won't have a monster game, but I believe he'll be a tad better than Palmer. Tuesday November 3, 2009 3:55 Mike Harmon |
3:55 | Fox Fantasy: Time for only a few more, folks! Mike asks: Is this the week Michael Crabtree finds paint?Tuesday November 3, 2009 3:55 Fox Fantasy |
3:57 | Mike Harmon: Mike - I like the way you think. Crabtree has posted two strong games since joining the 49ers and you're seeing the effect on the offense. He's set for another strong effort this week against the Titans, although it'll be interesting to see how Cortland Finnegan tries to check him. Tuesday November 3, 2009 3:57 Mike Harmon |
3:57 | Fox Fantasy: HELP ME (hmm) asks: Please HELP! Which two would you play J. Charles, P. Thomas, S. Slaton, J. Stewart, K. Smith or D. Bowe. Thanks a bunch! Tuesday November 3, 2009 3:57 Fox Fantasy |
3:57 | Mike Harmon: Let me be your guide to fantasy salvation! Tuesday November 3, 2009 3:57 Mike Harmon |
3:59 | Mike Harmon: I would start Pierre Thomas without hesitation. The Panthers have been unable to slow any running backs this season. For the second slot, I would give Stewart a slight edge over Bowe. Bowe is a red zone monster, but will he up his reception total? Take the double-digit touch count and slot Stewart into that second role. Tuesday November 3, 2009 3:59 Mike Harmon |
4:00 | Fox Fantasy: Jerm asks: Would you drop Shonn Greene for Ryan Moats? Tuesday November 3, 2009 4:00 Fox Fantasy |
4:03 | Mike Harmon: Jerm - That is a quick hook. Jones is obviously first chair, but Greene should still see double-digit touches going forward. However, Moats appears to be in the mix for a big workload at least for the next several weeks. I'd make the move if you need immediate help. I ask this question: how or when will Slaton get back into Kubiak's good graces? Tuesday November 3, 2009 4:03 Mike Harmon |
4:03 | Fox Fantasy: Larry asks: Mr Harmon....Jonathan Stewart, Steve Slaton or Pierre Thomas if you had to pick one to keep which would you keep for the rest of the season? Tuesday November 3, 2009 4:03 Fox Fantasy |
4:04 | Mike Harmon: Larry - Pierre Thomas. Even with Bell and Bush creeping around the mix, he's still a DD-carry guy. The Panthers' inability to pass the ball will shut down that running game on occasion. Thomas wins. Tuesday November 3, 2009 4:04 Mike Harmon |
4:04 | Fox Fantasy: Alica says: Hey there, you got me a win, thank you!! I need a flex player this week: LeSean Mccoy, Miles Austin, Knowshon Moreno, and Cadillac Williams. Which one do you like? Tuesday November 3, 2009 4:04 Fox Fantasy |
4:05 | Mike Harmon: Alicia - Thanks for the note. Glad to see you in the winner's circle. For this week, you've got another task. The wealth on your bench might bring you back another top-tier receiver in return ... just saying. Tuesday November 3, 2009 4:05 Mike Harmon |
4:07 | Mike Harmon: As for this week's matchup, we're not sure what to expect from Westbrook at this juncture, so I need to put McCoy aside.Moreno vs. PIT - no thanks. Cadillac vs. GB - nice matchup and some potential, but .... it's TB I keep Austin in the mix. I know that RBs normally win out in the thinking, but I'll stick with the hot hand. Tuesday November 3, 2009 4:07 Mike Harmon |
4:07 | Fox Fantasy: help! asks: Really quick - Eli Manning or Kurt Warner this week? Tuesday November 3, 2009 4:07 Fox Fantasy |
4:08 | Mike Harmon: Warner against Chicago secondary. I'm not going all Carson Palmer here, but do expect to see a bit of a bounce-back effort. Manning's last three weeks leave me a tad nervous, so he hits the pine versus San Diego. Tuesday November 3, 2009 4:08 Mike Harmon |
4:08 | Fox Fantasy: Thanks for coming in today, everyone! Roger Rotter will be here on Thursday in case we didn't get to your question today. See you then! Tuesday November 3, 2009 4:08 Fox Fantasy |
4:09 | Mike Harmon: Thanks, everybody.Find me with any remaining questions on Twitter.com/swollendome and Twitter.com/fantasyfreaks Listen to the big show on Sunday morning - FOXSportsradio.com and XM142. Thanks, all. Tuesday November 3, 2009 4:09 Mike Harmon |
