FOX Fantasy: A reader asks: Which quarterbacks will be excellent values in drafts this season?
11:03
Roger Rotter: In recent expert drafts that I've participated, Donovan McNabb has slid to the seventh, eighth and ninth rounds.
11:04
Roger Rotter: He's one of my magnificent seven quarterbacks to be sure to draft. I recommend taking one of them (Drew Brees, Petyon Manning, Tom Brady, Philip Rivers, Kurt Warner, Aaron Rodgers and McNabb.
11:05
Roger Rotter: They will provide a weekly advantage at that position. I also recommend drafting Brees in Round 3 if possible to ensure great production at that position.
11:05
Roger Rotter: Check out my QB preview for more details.
If he's available, will you draft Drew Brees in Round 3? Yes

No

FOX Fantasy: A reader asks: Which quarterback can be drafted late and still produce at a weekly rate?
11:11
Roger Rotter: The trio of Matts (Schaub, Hasselbeck and Ryan) are excellent candidates to be top 10 quarterbacks this season. All three have the potential to throw for 3,500 yards and 24 touchdowns.
11:12
Roger Rotter: They have been available in the mid-rounds in experts drafts that I've participated. Some owners bypass a quarterback in the early rounds and wait for one of these to be available. Personally, I'd rather draft one of these as a backup.
11:14
Roger Rotter: They have bigger question marks than the seven I recommend drafting. Schaub has been injury prone; Seattle struggled last season offensively and Hasselbeck is aging; and Ryan is entering only his second season. It's a big risk to depend on one of these as your starting quarterback on a weekly basis and carry you to the fantasy title.
11:15
FOX Fantasy: A reader asks: Who should I draft in the first round and what position?
11:16
Roger Rotter: Definitely pick a running back in the first round. You'll need at least two in most leagues, and the dropoff is considerable after the top ones. You can still get a strong quarterback or a solid receiver after the very top players at those positions are gone.
11:16
Roger Rotter: It's difficult to find a featured running back who can achieve a 1,000 yard season and score double-digit touchdowns.
11:18
Roger Rotter: I recommend these top 13, and consider yourself lucky if you can draft two of these in Rounds 1 and 2, assuming the league is standard scoring (6 or 4 points per passing score, 6 points per rushing/receiving TD, 1 point per 20 or 25 passing yards and 1 point per 10 rushing/receiving yards and even 1 point per reception).
11:20
Roger Rotter: They are Adrian Peterson, Michael Turner, DeAngelo Williams, LaDainian Tomlinson, Matt Forte, Clinton Portis, Brandon Jacobs, Steven Jackson, Maurice Jones-Drew, Brian Westbrook, Frank Gore, Steve Slaton and Chris Johnson.

FOX Fantasy: A reader asks: What is your strategy on drafting wide receivers?
11:24
Roger Rotter: I suggest to take a couple in the first five rounds, especially if your league awards one point per reception.
11:26
Roger Rotter: In addition, if you can start 3-4 wideouts in your league, then it's imperative to draft wide receivers early and often. I don't suggest the first round, but it's a good strategy to take a running back in the first and a QB in the third, then fill out the starting slots of the wide receivers next in Rounds 2, 4, 5 and 6.
11:26
Roger Rotter: Here are my wide rankings to follow.

11:28
Roger Rotter: Also, I recommend filling out the wide receiver starting slots before drafting a tight end.
11:28
Roger Rotter: The top ones have bigger question marks than in the past.
11:30
Roger Rotter: Jason Witten will be playing without Terrell Owens to draw double teams. Tony Gonzalez is entering the great unknown with a new team, new system, new division, new quarterbacks and new teammates. Antonio Gates has been hurt by injuries and has seen his stats decline in two straight seasons.
Roger Rotter: Just as important, a potential top five tight end can be found in the mid-rounds and possible the late rounds.
11:33
Roger Rotter: For example, Kellen Winslow has slipped to the seventh round or lower in many of the expert drafts that I've participated, and he will likely be featured heavily in Tampa Bay's offense, especially based upon the huge contract they gave him and the efforts they went to obtain him.
11:33
Roger Rotter: If Josh Freeman starts as a rookie, he'll likely utilized the tight end as a safe option to complete a quick pass.
11:36
Roger Rotter: One player who could be an excellent bargain is Dustin Keller. He's been available in the late rounds in some expert drafts. An inexperienced quarterback will likely be starting for the Jets, so he will be looking at that position frequently. In addition, Keller has a chance to improve greatly and take the next step after completing his first full season. In addition, the Jets' receiving group is largely unproven, giving Keller more chances to catch passes.
11:38
Roger Rotter: Another bargain at tight end is Chicago's Greg Olsen. Jay Cutler has already proven that he utilizes that position, helping make Tony Scheffler a top 10 fantasy tight end. Olsen was already a big part of Chicago's offense last year, and offensive coordinator Ron Turner has featured the position heavily in recent seasons. Given Chicago's lack of proven starters at wide receiver, and Olsen could jump into the class of top tight ends in his third season.
11:39
FOX Fantasy: A reader asks: What is your strategy on kickers and defenses/special teams?
11:42
Roger Rotter: Most owners know to wait until the final rounds to select a kicker and D/ST. The reason being is that there's few points differential between the top ones, and only one starting spot is usually reserved for each. In addition, a potential legiimate top five one can be drafted in the final rounds and even plucked from the waiver wire early during the season.
11:45
Roger Rotter: In recent seasons, these undrafted surprises included kickers like Neil Rackers and Robbie Gould, and D/STs like Atlanta, Chicago, Indianapolis Arizona and the Jets. Also, to remember, the list of the top 10 change every season, and there's very few repeats in the top 10 lists of kickers and D/STs from one season to the next.
11:45
Roger Rotter: Check out my kicker and D/ST rankings.
FOX Fantasy: We'll take a couple more questions before many start heading to the beach for early Fourth of July picnics and firework celebrations.

FOX Fantasy:
Which rookie running backs have the best chance to be this year's Steve Slaton and Chris Johnson?
11:49
Roger Rotter: Arizona's Chris Wells will be given an immediate chance to be the team's featured back. Supported by a strong passing attack and a committment to the run, he can be very productive if he can stay healthy.
11:50
Roger Rotter: Denver's Knowshon Moreno was picked high by Denver, indicating that it's committed to featuring the running back in the new system. If he's made the featured back rather than platooning with a host of them, then that increases his chances of being a fantasy star in his first season.
11:53
Roger Rotter: I like Indy's Donald Brown to eventually take over the featured back spot, even as soon as this year. Joseph Addai has experienced injury issues, along with having difficulty gaining significant yardage. Also, Brown has the ability to run inside and take it to the house. With Peyton Manning under center, the chance to break free for a long gain increases than with most other teams. There's ample running room once the back breaks free from the line of scrimmage.
11:55
Roger Rotter: I like all three to be No. 2 running backs for fantasy teams, especially if they are drafted in the mid-rounds. They will serve as excellent No. 3 running backs as well. Of note, though, both Wells and Moreno are the most likely to be fantasy stars with Brown more of an uncertainty to claim the featured back role.

Roger Rotter: Other rookie running back candidates include Philly's LeSean McCoy (if Westbrook becomes injured), Jets' Shonn Greene (if Thomas Jones becomes injured), Andre Brown (if Jacobs becomes injured, and he wins the backup slot behind him) and Glen Coffee (if Gore becomes injured).

FOX Fantasy:
Which unheralded WR has a chance a chance to finish in the top five?
12:04
Roger Rotter: San Diego's Vincent Jackson, Indy's Anthony Gonzalez and New Orleans' Lance Moore have the quarterback, talent and offensive system to post great seasons.
12:06
Roger Rotter: In addition, Eddie Royal could be a top 10 receiver if effectively fulfills Wes Welker's role in New England with Denver. If Brandon Marshall goes to another team, that could expand Royals' role even futher.
