Week 13 pro football survivor picks
Survive and advance is a popular sports mantra normally saved for the month of March and the madness that comes with it.
But thanks to the rapid growth of the NFL and fantasy football, games like FOX Fantasy Survivor can feed your craving for “win or go home” competition seven months early.
Thousands of football fans signed up and participated in the FOX Fantasy Survivor game last season. The hope is, with cash prizes on the line, we can eclipse that mark in 2012.
The premise is simple: pick one (1) team who you believe is going to win that week. The survivor catch remains that once you pick a team to win, you can’t pick that team again for the rest of the season. The good news is, even if you lose, you are still eligible to win cash prizes.
To assist you with your survivor selections, the FOXSports.com’s fantasy football staff will provide you their picks for the week.
Just remember the mantra: survive and advance. In a month, you could be $2,000 richer.
Week 12 Recap
Harmon - Broncos (Jamaal Charles, Ryan Succop and the Chiefs' defense did all they could to keep their team in the game. Peyton Manning, who had been courted by Kansas City during the offseason, did just enough on offense to get his Broncos and Harmon the Week 12 win. Oh, and then Charles asked Manning for an autograph after the game and everybody is up in arms. What do you think about his autograph request?)
Halpin - Colts (A sloppy offensive game for both the Bills and Colts was saved by the talents of rookie T.Y. Hilton. He scored Indy’s only two touchdowns of the day, one on a 75-yard touchdown punt return and the other coming on an eight-yard pass from Andrew Luck. Wasn’t pretty, but it doesn’t have to be as Halpin survives and advances.)
Fowler - Saints (Colin Kaepernick aside, the 49ers won this game in New Orleans because of their defense. Drew Brees threw not one, but two interceptions returned for touchdowns that drastically swung the momentum in favor of San Francisco.)
Beall - Steelers (The Browns forced eight turnovers and win by six. Cleveland’s offense is a mess. Charlie Batch isn’t good. Rashard Mendenhall is now the third-string running back in Pittsburgh. Big Ben where are you?!?!)
Week 13 Picks
Fowler – Lions over Colts
Indianapolis’ lackluster performance against the Bills last weekend at home and 2-3 road record this season combined with Detroit’s effort against the Houston Texans on Thanksgiving gives the edge to the Lions in this matchup. Look for Matthew Stafford to air it out against Indy’s pass defense that is dead last in interceptions this season.
Beall - Bears over Seahawks
Seattle is 1-5 on the road this season. Jay Cutler is back behind center and Brandon Marshall is intrigued by Viagra. Could be an interesting Sunday afternoon in Chicago.
Halpin - Jets over Cardinals
How do you feel if you are John Skelton? Ryan Lindley threw two pick sixes in the Cards loss to the Rams, but earned another start as the team waits for Kevin Kolb to return. These two offenses are a mess. Take the under.
Harmon - Niners over Rams
How do you feel about ties? If San Francisco plays as well as they did against New Orleans, the Niners should cruise over the Rams on the road. Sam Bradford did perform well against them the first time around: 275 passing yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions.
