Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis said he would have a hard time arguing if the school decides to fire him for his 6-5 record, saying it isn't good enough.

He made the comment Sunday after being asked about his quote when he was hired five years ago when he said 6-5 wasn't good enough. That's what Notre Dame's record was when Tyrone Willingham was fired and that's the school's record again after a double overtime 33-30 loss Saturday to Connecticut (5-5) on Saturday.

Northeastern University is dropping its football program after 74 years, saying it's too expensive to maintain.

President Joseph Aoun and the board of trustees endorsed the move Friday after a two-year review of the Boston school's sports programs by athletic director Peter Roby.

The program's 87 players and 10 coaches learned of the program's demise Sunday night at a meeting on campus with Roby, a day after the Football Championship Subdivision team won its final game 33-27 at Rhode Island.

Mississippi, California and North Carolina have surged back into the AP Top 25 college football poll.

There was little change, however, at the top of The Associated Press rankings after a weekend when most of the highly ranked teams had easy victories or time off.

No. 1 Florida is followed by fellow unbeatens Alabama, Texas, TCU, Cincinnati and Boise State. Also holding their places were No. 7 Georgia Tech, No. 8 Pittsburgh and No. 9 Ohio State.

The only change in the top 10 came at No. 10.
