Franco Panizo offers his insights from FOX Soccer's Mobile Viewing Party in New York:

More than two-dozen people filed into a two-story bus on a sunny Monday afternoon in Manhattan. One person was wearing a New York Red Bulls jersey, another a US men’s national team jersey, and there was even someone sporting Didier Drogba’s Chelsea kit.

And while all these people may have different allegiances in terms of which soccer teams they support, they shared something in common.

They were not boarding just any bus; they were on the FOX Soccer MVP tour bus, which was about to take them on a tour of New York City while airing the Euro 2012 Group D opener between European heavyweights England and France.

There were supporters from both sides and predictions on who would win were evenly split. The friendly banter and smack talking that was shared before the game carried over during the match, but things got a bit more serious when England took the lead.

One person, 18-year-old Shawn Goodwin, demonstrated particular frustration with the goal. He was on the edge of his seat minutes later, as France failed to score on a close header before letting out a scream and throwing up a fist of excitement when Samir Nasri tied things up in the 39th minute.

“ I was disappointed because the flicked header was so close,” said Goodwin, a Wallkill, NY resident. “But Nasri came up big so it was exciting.”

Emotions ran high all match long, and free food and beverages were handed out during the match. But there would be no more goals and France and England settled for a 1-1 tie.

Still, the match was an enjoyable one, especially for the people on the bus that went from sports pub Legends through Times Square and back.

“I worked for 20 years in Manhattan so I know that the city looks like, but it is nice to be on the bus watching soccer and relaxing,” said Wallkill resident Edwin Leon. “You can’t beat that.”
