The players sense it could be a big year for them. Anything can happen on the run-in. Players can all of a sudden find themselves playing in a final or an important league game because that is the kind of squad I have.

FUN FACT

This will be the first time Cristiano Ronaldo faces his former club at Old Trafford since moving from Manchester United to Real Madrid in 2009.

why man united

will win the game

United look like a machine right now, mercilessly grinding through games and opponents like a thresher. They sprung a shock on Jose Mourinho’s boys last time out, playing a young and harassing lineup, but an injury to Phil Jones is likely to rob them of some mobility on that back line. That said, United can out-score anyone: Robin van Persie has been joined by Danny Welbeck and Chicharito, allowing the ever-dangerous Wayne Rooney to play creator.

why real madrid

will win the game

Real shelled keeper David De Gea in the last match, only to be stone-walled. That surely cannot happen twice. Los Merengues are riding high after a 3-1 thrashing of arch-rivals Barcelona at Nou Camp and are not going to be intimidated by the cauldron of Old Trafford. Cristiano Ronaldo is also in magisterial form, and the defense – anchored now by the teen Raphael Varane – seems to have solidified despite the injury-enforced absence of Iker Casillas. They will come out on all cylinders. United had better beware.
